We are currently looking for a Senior Web Engineer (all genders) based in Berlin or working remotely to join our Engineering team. Your mission with us: As a Senior Web Engineer, you will play a key role in the evolution of our WordPress-based marketing platform. You will develop and optimise high-converting conversion funnels, integrate third-party systems, and build scalable, maintainable solutions that enable rapid campaign launches and dynamic content delivery. This is not your average WordPress role, the Lingoda website is a high-traffic site that attracts and converts our B2C customers, it is based on a highly customised WordPress theme, — you will be responsible for developing scalable custom functionality, implementing designs, performance tuning, and system architecture, all while enabling our CMS and marketing teams to move quickly and efficiently. This role will report to the Website Platform Lead in our Engineering Team. Your tasks:

• Develop, maintain, and scale custom WordPress themes and plugins, prioritising flexibility, performance, and scalability
• Build responsive, user-friendly UI/UX experiences using JavaScript (ES6+), CSS/SCSS, and HTML
• Design and implement functionality that enhances conversion funnels, working closely with Growth and Marketing teams
• Architect smart, reusable CMS components — e.g., a centrally managed campaign module that displays banners or offers site-wide based on business rules
• Integrate third-party tools and APIs, such as CRM systems, analytics platforms, and pricing engines
• Optimise performance, SEO, and technical reliability using CDNs, caching strategies, and web performance tools
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritise features, and deliver against business goals
• Support best practices in architecture, code quality, and documentation within the broader tech team

You bring to Lingoda

• 5+ years of professional experience in custom WordPress development
• Solid frontend development skills in JavaScript (ES6+), CSS/SCSS, and HTML5
• Strong knowledge of web architecture fundamentals — including caching, asset delivery, and CDN optimisation (Cloudflare, CloudFront or similar)
• Proven experience working on high-converting websites and dynamic conversion funnels
• Experience creating flexible CMS components for use by non-technical stakeholders
• Familiarity with API integration and data-driven decision-making tools
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills — you can translate between tech and business
• A pragmatic mindset with a strong sense of ownership
• Bonus: experience with headless CMS, CI/CD pipelines, or service-based architectures
• Excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with many other functions and departments.
• Very strong in balancing business requirements and technical process to deliver results and achieve success
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Fluent English skills (C-level)
