Abbey Marketing Communications and Spirit DM Liquidation
Abbey Marketing Communications and its connected company Spirit DM have officially entered liquidation as of January 30. Notices published on February 7 in The Gazette confirm this development.
The joint liquidators, Nedim Ailyan and Ben Stanyon from FRP Advisory, were appointed to manage the liquidation process. Both companies operated out of an industrial park in Great Dunmow, Essex, and shared common directors, Michele and Andrew Cantwell.
Company Overview
According to their website, Abbey Marketing Communications was described as an “all-encompassing marketing services company,” focusing primarily on the production and processing of plastic card mailed communications. Their services included:
- Data processing
- Laser personalisation
- Inkjet addressing
- Specialist finishing, enclosing, and fulfilment
Financial Status
The last filed accounts up to March 31, 2024, indicated that Abbey employed an average of 21 staff. Financially, the company faced significant challenges, with over £405,000 owed by debtors, including nearly £231,000 from trade debtors. Additionally, they were owed just under £35,000 by Spirit DM.
On the creditor side, amounts due within one year reached nearly £557,000, with over £153,000 attributed to trade creditors. In 2018, Abbey's turnover was reported to be around £2 million, but its current financial health and staffing levels at the time of liquidation remain unclear.
Spirit DM, on the other hand, provided a variety of services in data management, printing, finishing, and enclosing. The statement of affairs for Spirit DM is still being processed at Companies House.
Current Situation
As of the latest reports, FRP Advisory has not provided any comments regarding the situation, and attempts to contact both companies result in a message indicating that calls cannot be accepted.
